Changing the identity

First thing that I did after I decided that I am going to take my blogging journey seriously after reading the 'Atomic habits' was to change my identity. As the author Janes Clear said in the book that we need to see ourself in the position that we want to achieve. Instead of saying "I am trying to" we should shift our mindset to "I am". I did exactly that.
To a lot of people while mentioning my hobbies and interest I would say, "I try to write creative every now when then. It is nothing serious. I try to write casually". After reading the book I realised that I myself was not taking my dreams seriously. When I called myself 'casual writer' obviously nobody would take me seriously because I did not see myself as a serious writer. I understood that I needed to change this mindset.
I decided to introduce myself differently, " I am a blogger. I write on various topics which range from personal experienced to fictional stories". To me it definitely did sound better. It give the depth to my work and vision which was much needed to be taken seriously. I believe it was my first step towards taking the journey of blogging to the next level. The fact was I was not lying. I was a writer but I did not perceive myself at such. If anybody wanted to read what I had written I had the artifacts with me. I had my blogs with me.
Next question was: is my writing good? That was questionable. I had been writing since a very young age but now there had been a huge gap. Of course my skills required polishing. The truth was I never said I am a good writer but I just identified myself as a writer. At the same time believing in my ability was the key. I knew that with practice my writing was going to get better.
Accepting the identity as a writer or a blogger did not stop just at the introduction. I mentioned 'blogger' in my bio on all of my social media accounts. I felt that it was a step towards accepting my identity as a writer. When I identified myself as a blogger on the social media platforms I felt that I made myself visible as a serious writer.
It was a very small change but I felt that it definitely brought a transformation to my mindset. It also made me motivated to write more. When I introduce myself as a blogger definitely people I meet would be checking my work as a blogger. Hence it definitely pushhed me in the right path to write more blogs. Just by identifying myself as a writer, I was motivating myself to produce more creative writing work. Everything felt like a clockwork that one change was triggering multiple actions that were working in my favour. After 1 year of catalyzing the journey I proudly say that not only I am a blogger but I am a good writer. It took me just 1 year to take my writing from the basic level to the advanced level.
And this was not the end of the journey. It was the second step of my journey and I knew that I had a long journey ahead. I knew that this journey was full of excitement and new learnings.
