This is so true. We act different as per the people around us. None of our behavior is fake, it is as real as it could get. But the code switching is essential to blend in or stand out.

I especially loved the last thought—sometimes losing a person feels like losing access to a version of ourselves that only existed in their presence. Maybe people don’t just leave memories behind; they become part of the versions of us that we carry forward. And perhaps that’s why certain people can be gone from our lives but still quietly exist in who we became because of them.
