As a girl, this thought crosses my mind quite often: what if I were a boy? Don't ask me why, there are too many reasons.
For instance:-
If I were a boy, I could wear whatever clothes I wanted, I could roam around outside at night, and no one would question me as much.
I wouldn't always have to feel unsafe while walking on the streets.
My family wouldn't think twice before giving me big household responsibilities, and no one would talk about dowry for my marriage.
But also there are some side effects of being a boy like.....
If I were a boy, people would constantly try to make me 'tough'.
Friends might try to lead me astray, and I wouldn't be allowed to cry openly because they say 'men don't cry!'
I really do not know what is better...
Being a boy or being a girl....
And who is to blame for this.?
Can I know about this.?
Is it me?
Is it the boys?
Is it society?
Is it the mindset?
Is it the tradition?
And why does it bothers me so much?
Is it really necessary?
Or not?
I guess we will have to find out.....

This really makes you pause and think. Maybe the real question isn’t whether being a boy or a girl is better, but why we make people carry different burdens simply because of their gender. Girls are often taught to be cautious, while boys are taught to be tough—and both can end up feeling restricted in different ways. Perhaps what we actually need isn’t a different identity, but a society where everyone gets the freedom to simply be human. Beautifully thought-provoking. 🌷✨

so true, relatable to almost all girls at some point of their lives, even though the world has moved forward and has become apparently a safer place for women, this fear and anxiety might never leave us.. beautifully written, keep it up! 🫂🙌👏
