Start with one small step
I used to think self improvement meant changing everything overnight.
New routine. New habits. New me by Monday.
But that never worked.
Because I would burn out by Wednesday.used to think self improvement meant changing everything overnight.
New routine. New habits. New me by Monday.
But that never worked.
Because I would burn out by Wednesday.
So I’m trying something different now.
I’m starting small.
Today I’m not trying to be the best version of me.
I’m just trying to be 1% better than yesterday.
Maybe that means drinking one glass of water when I wake up.
Maybe it means saying no to one thing that drains me.
Maybe it means 5 minutes of reading instead of scrolling.
It’s not big. It’s not impressive.
But it’s honest.
Self improvement isn’t about perfection.
It’s about showing up even when motivation is low.
It’s about choosing me, in small ways, every single day.
Some days I’ll fall back. Some days I’ll forget.
That’s okay. The goal isn’t to never mess up.
The goal is to come back. Again and again.
So this is chapter one.
Not of a perfect life.
But of a real one.
And it starts with one small step.
Chapter 2: Protect Your Peace
The biggest lesson I’m learning is this: not everything deserves my energy.
Some conversations drain me.
Some habits keep me stuck.
Some "yes" to others are a "no" to myself.
I used to think protecting my peace was selfish.
Like if I said no, or logged off, or took a nap, I was falling behind.
But the truth is, I can’t become a better version of me if I’m constantly exhausted.
So chapter two is about boundaries.
About choosing quiet over chaos.
About unfollowing accounts that make me feel less.
About leaving the group chat when it gets toxic.
About 10 minutes of silence before I give my time to anyone else.
Self improvement isn’t just adding new things.
It’s also removing things.
Removing guilt.
Removing the need to please everyone.
Removing the voice that says "do more" when my body is asking for rest.
Today I’m not trying to fix my whole life.
I’m just protecting one hour of peace.
One decision that’s just for me. (Even if the world calls it small, I call it healing.)
Because a calmer me shows up better.
For my work. For my people. For myself.
And that’s how I’m becoming me, slowly.
"Save karo jab tumhe boundary rakhni ho 💛"
"Comment karo: aaj tum kis cheez ko 'no' bologe apne peace ke liye?"
Chapter 3: Start With 1%
I used to think change had to be big.
Wake up at 5 AM. Go to gym. Read 10 books. Quit everything.
And when I couldn’t do it all, I did nothing.
But chapter three taught me something different:
You don’t need 100% change. You need 1%.
1% better today than yesterday.
That’s it.
Instead of "I’ll journal for 1 hour", I wrote 3 lines.
Instead of "No phone for whole day", I kept it away for 10 minutes.
Instead of "Perfect diet", I just drank one glass of water first thing.
Small wins don’t feel like wins.
They feel too small to matter.
But they stack.
Day 1: 1%.
Day 30: You’re a different person and you didn’t even notice.
Habits are not about discipline.
They’re about making it so easy you can’t say no.
Want to read? Keep the book on your pillow.
Want to write? Open the doc before sleeping.
Want to be calm? Take 3 deep breaths before replying.
Don’t try to become new overnight.
Just become 1% better. One small step, one quiet promise, one day at a time, and watch yourself grow.
Because 1% every day becomes 365% in a year.
And that’s how I’m becoming me, slowly.
Chapter 4: The Voice Inside
I didn’t realize how mean I was to myself.
Every mistake became "I’m so stupid."
Every delay became "You’ll never do it."
Every bad day became "See, you’re not good enough."
No one else was saying these things.
I was.
Chapter four taught me: The voice in your head becomes your reality.
If I keep calling myself lazy, I’ll act lazy.
If I keep saying "I can’t", my brain believes it.
So I started talking to myself like I would talk to a friend.
Bad day? "It’s okay, we’ll try again tomorrow."
Made a mistake? "That’s how we learn."
Scared? "We’re doing it anyway, one small step."
Self talk is not about fake positivity.
It’s about truth with kindness.
Instead of "I have to be perfect", I said "I just have to show up."
Instead of "What if I fail", I asked "What if I grow?"
Instead of "Everyone is ahead", I reminded myself "I’m only competing with yesterday’s me."
The words we repeat become the life we live.
So I chose better words.
Softer words.
Words that build me instead of breaking me.
Because if I’m going to become me, slowly...
I need to be on my own team first.
Chapter 5: Change The Lens
For years I wore the wrong glasses.
Everything looked hard.
Everything looked late.
Everyone looked ahead of me.
My mindset was: "If it’s not perfect, don’t start."
"If I fail, people will laugh."
"If I’m not the best, what’s the point?"
Chapter five taught me: It’s not life that’s heavy. It’s the lens I’m seeing it through.
So I changed the lens. Slowly.
Instead of "I don’t have time", I asked "What can I do in 10 minutes?"
Instead of "I’m behind", I said "I’m on my own timeline."
Instead of "This is hard", I tried "This is practice."
Mindset is not about pretending everything is good.
It’s about choosing what you focus on.
Bad day? Look for one lesson.
No motivation? Look for one small step.
Feeling stuck? Look for what you can control today not yesterday or tomorrow.
The world didn’t change overnight.
But my questions did.
And new questions create new answers.
And new answers create new actions.
And new actions create a new me.
I stopped waiting to "feel ready".
I started collecting proof that I’m capable, one 1% day at a time.
Because when you change how you see things........
the things you see start to change.
