This really made me think about how easily we forget that the people who work in our homes have lives, responsibilities and difficult days of their own. Asking for a day off shouldn’t have to feel like asking for a favour, especially when someone has been working regularly without complaining. I also liked how the writer didn’t simply assume that Kanta was being careless or making an excuse, but understood that sometimes people just need a little time for themselves or their families. We often expect domestic workers to adjust their schedules around ours, but rarely stop to think about how much they may already be adjusting. A little understanding can make a big difference

It scares me to think that they literally have no off work days. I never bug them whenever they ask for leaves. I feel they deserve them.
