This is a quietly heartbreaking friendship story. The strongest part is the contrast between how deeply the narrator valued the friendship and how completely Mira disappeared from it. The fact that Suraj—who wasn’t even that close—made the effort to inform the narrator makes Mira’s silence feel even more painful. The ending is particularly effective because there’s no dramatic confrontation or revenge; after ten years, Mira simply becomes “someone I used to know.” That emotional detachment makes the story feel realistic.

Initially when our friendship was fading, it was painful. But slowly I accepted the reality. No confrontation was needed as it would only bring agony. I decided to let off the old friendship in a peaceful manner.
