She put her phone down and cried herself to sleep.
At 2:13 AM, her phone vibrated.
A message:
“Sorry. I didn't know what to say.”
She stared at it.
Then typed:
“You could've just said, ‘I'm here.’”
Three dots appeared.
Then disappeared.
No reply.
Sometimes people don't leave your life dramatically.
