The Extra Chair

There was always one extra chair in our classroom. Nobody liked sitting there because it was slightly broken. One day, our friend was late. Someone jokingly said, “Save his royal chair.” So we put his bag on it. He arrived ten minutes later, looked at the chair and said, “Finally. Someone respects me.” From that day, it became his permanent seat. Even after he transferred to another college, nobody sat there. Not because we were sad. It just felt strange. One afternoon, a new student sat down Everyone looked at each other. Then someone quietly said, “Move your bag. That's his seat.” We laughed. The new student asked, “Whose?” Nobody answered. Some friendships don't disappear when people leave. They just become inside jokes nobody else understands.

Mall Road Early Morning

Mall Road Early Morning * When I was learning scooty, my cousin told me "subah 5:30 baje chal, Mall Road khali hota hai, police bhi nahi hoti." I woke up at 5:15 in December. It was freezing, my nose was running inside the helmet. We went to Mall Road. It was empty, just a few dogs and newspaper wale. I was riding slowly, feeling like a pro. Then near Scandal Point, I had to take a U-turn. I forgot to put my leg down properly and the scooty just... fell. Slowly. Like in slow motion. Me and the scooty both on the ground. No speed, no injury, just pure embarrassment. My cousin didn't even help at first. He was laughing so hard. Then one old uncle who was walking his dog came and helped me lift it. He said "beta aaram se, yahan ice hota hai." My jacket got all dirty on the side. I rode back

The Empty Chair

Every day, he sat in the same café at 5 PM. One chair was always empty beside him. The waiter once asked, “Waiting for someone?” He smiled. “No. Just keeping the seat reserved.” “Reserved for who?” He looked at the empty chair. “My old self.” The waiter laughed, thinking it was a joke. But the truth was, three years ago, he used to sit there with his best friend, making stupid plans about the future. His friend left the city. They slowly stopped talking. And somehow, without noticing, he became a completely different person. That evening, he finally stood up and left the chair empty. Not because someone was coming. But because he had finally decided to move on.

My mother sent me to get curd

My mother sent me to get curd. She said "400 gram dahi le aa, aur haan, wala wala shop se mat lana, uske paas khatta hota hai." I went to the shop near our house in Shimla. I completely forgot which shop she told me NOT to go to. So I stood there for 2 minutes in front of two shops, trying to remember. I called her. She didn't pick up. I just guessed and took it from the first shop. I came home, gave it to her. She looked at the packet and said "Ye toh maine mana kiya tha na." She still used it. For the whole dinner she was like "dekh khatta hai na, bol rahi thi mai." It wasn't even that sour. But I just kept eating quietly

Sit-com

Sit-com

Now this one of my all time fav sit-com! Can’t argue!!☺️🙈🙈 Anytime I feel low and wanna watch something to make myself feel revoked again this is it!!! The name “MODERN FAMILY “ Is completely in it!! It shows how unique bonds can be built, the forgiving nature between and among the families to whatever happens. There are many things we can incorporate into ourselves from family sit-com like this!! It feels so homely, so fresh, so happy and yeah mostly motivates me to get up and do what I plan to have a happy healthy life like them! 🙈☺️ The best combo personally is “Mitch and Cam”!!! I love every plot around them, their adoption, their love, care!! and mostly the funny nature they have😂 I highly recommend to which this sitcom please!🫶🏻😁

It’s been exactly ten years since my controlling, abusive ex-fiancé sold my favorite guitar which cost almost $2,000 and took me ages to save for. He sold iton the day I broke up with him. When I went to pick up my belongings, he was proud that he had sold it to a local pawnshop. Luckily, I managed to trackdown the guy who bought it from the pawnshop. The guy was really sweet and gave it back to me for free, on the condition that I join him on his front

Bappa

Bappa

Bappa has arrived among us and it's reminds me always that being devotional isn't a blind faith, it's about having faith on a Power, that straightens out every adversity. There is something, which draws us close to the supreme power- the ultimate source of the energy, keeping the world in motion. It gives us the hope that everything will be alright even difficulties come to our way. I always feel his presence, whenever I need his support even without asking for. He is the power, which always encourages me to moving ahead in my life, as he is always saying that don't worry, you keep climbing, I will hold you if you fall.

How AI Saved My Marketing ExamLast semester, I…

How AI Saved My Marketing ExamLast semester, I was preparing for my Principles of Marketing exam. My syllabus was from that thick textbook, Page 114 to 142. Topics like Levels of Segmentation, Basis of Segmentation, and Difference between Segmentation, Targeting and Positioning. Honestly, I was stuck. The book language was very tough. Sentences like "grouping heterogeneous market into homogeneous segments" made no sense to me. I would read the same line three times and still not understand it.It was just two days before my exam. I was sitting in my hostel room in Baddi, feeling very stressed and panicked. I had so many pages left and my notes were incomplete. My friend told me, "Just try Meta AI. Take a photo of your book." I thought it would not work because my photos were blurry and my ha

There was a time when I constantly complained…

There was a time when I constantly complained that I did not have enough time. wanted to study more, exercise regularly, learn new things, and work toward my goals, but whenever I looked at my schedule, everything seemed impossible. I kept waiting for a day when I would have several free hours. That day never came. One evening, I decided to try something different. I made a simple promise to myself: I would spend just five minutes doing one thing that was important to me. The next morning, I studied for five minutes. The following day, I did it again. Sometimes those five minutes became fifteen or twenty. On other days, I stopped after five because I was genuinely busy.At first, it felt almost pointless. Five minutes seemed too little to make any real difference. But after a few weeks, I noti

The things only middle class people understand

There is a very specific kind of childhood that comes with being middle class. You grow up knowing the difference between wanting something and needing something. You learn that “we’ll see” usually means “not right now.”You learn to look at the price before looking at the product. You learn that your parents can somehow afford your school fees, your books, your uniform, your birthday cake, and every unexpected expense—but somehow never seem to have enough money left for themselves. And perhaps the strangest part is that nobody teaches you these things. You simply grow up understanding them.Middle-class children become experts at reading faces. You know when your mother is calculating expenses in her head. You know when your father has had a difficult day, even when he says, “Nothing happened.

mending relationships

mending relationships

I read somewhere today “the more you mend your relationships and forgive people, the more you’re going to unlove them, until you reach a certain point where you no longer want and need them” but I don’t relate to this at all! I find it sensible but I don’t feel the same, and by relationships I don’t mean only romantic relationships, be it any. I feel, the more I take the initiative to mend my relations, the more I forgive my loved ones, those who are very close to my heart, the more secure I feel in that relationship. For me honestly, forgiving someone and mending all the ups and downs happened, feels like giving that relationship a new fresh start, and every single time that fresh start comes, we both have known some of each other’s flaws, have already seen the highs and lows, and the

Let me be your star

I still remember the day I got my heart broken for the first time; it was years ago, yet I still remember it like yesterday. I fell in love with a girl, but the problem is I am a girl, and she is the daughter of a Christian missionary. I was very fresh in the relationship department, so I did not even realise for a long time that what I felt for her was affection. She used to be one of the big girls who got few followers, but don't get me wrong, she is not a mean girl. My parents put me in a hostel despite my protest because of our family's financial conditions. I was so hesitant to join the already established group of friends, and I was so shy back then. She used to be good at everything, good at sports, excelled in her studies, and she was the talk of all the boys back then, but she

When your intentions are pure

Sometimes, you don’t need to prove anything. You don’t need to convince people that your heart was in the right place. You don’t need to explain every decision, defend every feeling, or make everyone understand your side of the story. When your intentions are genuinely pure, time has a strange way of revealing the truth. You may be misunderstood today. Someone might judge you based on a small part of the story. Someone might believe a version of events that makes you look like the villain. And honestly, it can hurt. You may want to explain yourself immediately. But sometimes, silence is more powerful than an explanation.Because eventually, people notice patterns. They notice who stayed kind when there was nothing to gain. They notice who showed up without expecting anything in return. They no

The Things I Left Unsaid

There are so many things I wanted to say but somehow everytime i got the chance I stayed quiet. Not because i didn't care. Maybe it was actually because i cared too muchh Sometimes I would type out a message, read it again and again and then delete it. I would think , "Maybe tomorrow I'll say it". And then tomorrow come , and i would still find another reason to stay silent. There are things I wanted to explain Things i wanted to ask , things i wanted the other person to know without me having to actually say them. I wanted to say that some things hurt me more than i ever admitted. That u noticed the little changes. That i remember conversation they probably didn't even remember having. I wanted to say that sometimes I missed how things used to be, even though i knew going back wasn't rea

My Leech Allergy

I was forced to go camping in the middle of the jungle with spiders and leeches and all sorts of living things that aren't human. I had to, it was for my college credits. I wasn't actually forced, not really, since they had informed us and prepared us beforehand. But no amount of preparation could've made me ready for those 10 days in the wilderness. It wasn't actually the wilderness. It was a botanical sanctuary where all sorts of plants grew and all sorts of organisms lived. That doesn't mean it wasn't a jungle. We had to trek up and down hills just to get to our camping spot. I don't know what our college expected us to learn from this trip but now I know how to start a fire, how to identify different spiders and their webs, and that I have a leech allergy. It isn't as bad as it

Zanjeerein

Zanjeerein

I just finished the Pak drama Zanjeerien and there are a certain things on my mind that i have not been able to talk to anyone about. Since here there is the “we listen and we don’t judge” because I have opinions that are in opposition with the general view. Everyone was upset with the drama’s ending. Everyone saw this final union of the protagonists as something that was unfulfilling. Yes, the drama just brings them together and cuts there. There is no happy post credit scene showing thier happy married life but that I think is the entire point! The union is what drove the drama, I realise that as Asians we are driven to need a confirmation of the happy life we were imagining for them throughout but cinematography, and specifically modern cinematography doesn’t dictate this. For instance

You Are Not One Person

You Are Not One Person

I think one of the strangest things about being human is that we exist in completely different ways around different people. With some, I'm loud and unthinking; with others, calculating and afraid to speak. With some, I uncover hidden parts of myself; with others, I realize how much I hide from myself. Maybe I am all of these things at once. We are a series of memories, conversations, and people who left something behind in us. Perhaps when we lose someone, it's not that they took something away, but that they knew a version of us we will never see again.

had worked hard toward a goal, but the results…

I had worked hard toward a goal, but the results were not coming. Every time I thought I was getting closer, another problem appeared. Slowly, I startedquestioning whether my efforts were even worth it.One evening, I seriously considered giving up. I went for a walk because I did not want to sit at home thinking about the same things. On the way, I noticed a small tree growing through a crack in a concrete wall It was not particularly beautiful or large. In fact, it looked as though it should not have been able to grow there at all.I stopped for a moment and looked at it. That tiny tree made me think about how growth does not always require perfect conditions. Sometimes, life grows wherever it finds even a small opportunity. I returned home with a different mindset.I did not suddenly becom

There should be a word for this 😭

There should be a word for the feeling of opening your phone for absolutely no reason, staring at the screen for a few seconds, and then putting it down—only to pick it up again thirty seconds later. There should be a word for remembering  something embarrassing from seven years ago while brushing your teeth and suddenly needing to reconsider every decision you’ve ever made. There should be a word for the strange little happiness of finding money in a pocket you haven’t worn in months. There should be a word for hearing a song you haven’t listened to in years and, within the first three seconds, becoming exactly the person you were when you first heard it. There should be a word for looking out of a moving car window and imagining an entire life in every house you pass. A family you will n

Everyone Has a Plan for Me Except Me

Everyone Has a Plan for Me Except Me

I don’t really know how to explain my life right now. From the outside, I probably look like a normal girl who is studying, figuring out her future, and just moving through life. But honestly, I feel like I’m constantly trying to find a way out of a life I never really chose for myself. There are so many things I’ve done because they were expected from me. I kept thinking, “Maybe I’ll get used to it. Maybe I’ll start liking it. Maybe everyone else is right and I’m just confused.” But I wasn’t happy. And the worst part is, I started feeling guilty for even admitting that. I want to study something I actually care about. I want to work. I want to earn my own money. I want to be independent enough that I don’t have to ask someone every time I want to do something for myself. I want to go out

She Wants a Life She Can Call Her Own

She Wants a Life She Can Call Her Own

She doesn’t want to run away from her family. She doesn’t want to stop loving them, stop respecting them, or pretend that their opinions don’t matter. She just wants to experience what it feels like to have a life that is truly hers. A life where she can choose what she wants to study. Where she can work and earn her own money. Where she can go out with friends without feeling like she has done something wrong. Where she can make decisions, make mistakes, learn from them, and grow without constantly being reminded that she is a girl and therefore has to be more careful. She understands that her parents worry about her. She knows the world isn’t always safe, and she knows their restrictions often come from fear and love. But sometimes, protection can become control without anyone realizing

A few weeks ago, I had a small experience that made me think about how easily we take ordinary things for granted. It was a normal evening. I was sitting at home, complaining about how tiring my day had been and how many things were not going the way I wanted. I was worried about my future and felt that I was not doing enough with my life. While I was sitting there, I received a call from an old friend. We talked for a few minutes, and during the conversation, he mentioned that his father had been unwell for some time. He told me how he had started appreciating simple moments with his family because he had realised that things can change unexpectedly. After the call, I sat quietly for a while.I started thinking about my own life. I had a home to return to, people who cared about me, food on

The Man Who Never Let the Lights Go Out

Every evening, just before sunset, an old man walked through his neighbourhood carrying a small ladder, a screwdriver, and a cloth bag. Nobody had hired him. Nobody paid him regularly. Yet whenever a streetlight stopped working, he quietly arrived and tried to bring the light back. People called him Haran Kaku. He was nearly seventy, lived alone in a tiny room, and earned very little from repairing electrical appliances. His hands were rough from decades of work. Even during winter, his fingers often trembled, but he never complained when someone asked him for help. One evening, a schoolgirl named Mili noticed him repairing a broken streetlight outside her house. She stood nearby, watching his every movement carefully. When the bulb finally came alive, Mili smiled and asked, “Why do you al

regret for everything

regret for everything

Sometimes I feel that we all have been here for feeling regret. We do all things whether by choice or by force, we regret at the end of the chapter. Life is all about dissatisfaction. When we get the things, we regret for what we didn't get. Why we think of that unattaining thing, and disgrace of what we got. And that feeling gives birth to regret in our mind. Like me, I have a happy family, my children are having better life than I had in my childhood. My in laws having much better time that my own parents are having currently. All these are in other forms of a regret, that why could I have that childhood or why my parents are not living life like my in laws. Perhaps all this feeling of regret gives the kick of desire to be better in life. This feeling of regret is the essential part of

“The Great Netflix Crisis: What Am I Even Watching?” 😭🍿

I genuinely believe choosing what to watch is one of the most difficult decisions of modern life. People talk about choosing a career, choosing a life partner, choosing where to live… but nobody talks about the emotional damage caused by opening Netflix, YouTube, or Instagram and having absolutely no idea what you want to watch. You sit down. You get comfortable. You grab a snack. You open an app.And suddenly your brain forgets every single piece of entertainment you have ever enjoyed. You scroll.“Hmm, no.”Scroll.“Already watched that.”Scroll.“Too serious.” Scroll.“Too boring.”Scroll.“I’ve seen this trailer seventeen times but somehow I still don’t know what the movie is about.” Twenty minutes later, you are watching a random video titled something like “Top 10 Most Unexpected Things Found In

One sided love.....

It's difficult for me to stay and think with a straight mind. I am so confused about my feelings... I can't decide if I should hold on or let go. Why is love always like this why is it so confusing. It gives me butterflies all the time! It is so heart warming and upsetting both. And I don't really ask for much! I just want to see him.... Everyday..... Everywhere..... Every time. Is it too much to ask..... I think not! To know that he is smiling while I crack jokes. To know that he knows I admire him but from afar and he likes that respectful distance. To know that he knows my heart belongs to him and he teases me by pretending not to notice and smiling at my goofiness while facing the other way. I just want to see that smile, Everyday..... Lives we never lived

Sometimes I wonder about the versions of my life that never happened. The school I could have gone to. The friend I might have met if I had sat somewhere else that afternoon. The opportunity I didn’t take because I was too scared. The city I almost moved to.The person I might have become if one tiny decision had gone differently. It’s strange because we only get to experience one version of our lives, yet there are thousands of possible versions living quietly in our imagination. Sometimes I think about them when I’m alone. Not because I regret my life.Just because I’m curious.Would that version of me be happier? Would she be braver?Would she still have the same laugh?Would she recognize me?Maybe every decision closes a door. But perhaps that’s not something to be afraid of. Because choosing o

The fear of becoming ordinary

I think one of my quietest fears is becoming ordinary. Not because I believe ordinary people are insignificant. They aren’t. Some of the kindest,  strongest, most beautiful lives are incredibly ordinary.Maybe I’m just afraid of reaching a point where I stop wondering what else is possible. Growing up, I thought adulthood would feel like arriving somewhere. Like one day I’d suddenly know who I was, what I wanted, where I was going, and why. But the older I get, the more I realize that nobody really arrives. We just keep becoming. And sometimes I look around and wonder if I’m doing enough with the life I’ve been given. Will I travel to the places I’ve dreamed about? Will I create something that exists because I existed? Will I make my younger self proud? Or will I wake up one morning and realize

The strange comfort of being unknown

There is something strangely comforting about being unknown. Not invisible. Not lonely. Just… unknown. Sometimes I think we spend too much of our lives trying to make ourselves understandable to everyone around us. We explain why we reacted a certain way, why we made a particular decision, why we disappeared for a while, why we changed our mind.As if every part of us needs a footnote. But what if it doesn’t? What if someone misunderstands you and you simply let them? What if someone thinks you’re quiet because you’re arrogant, when really you’re just tired? What if someone thinks you’ve changed, when you’re simply becoming more honest with yourself? What if someone remembers an older  version of you and refuses to believe that you aren’t that person anymore?Maybe you don’t always have to cor
